Hi there!
How is it going? I arrived to this site from the linux virtualization wiki, after realizing that, while I have a clear vision of what I want to create, I know my way around some programming languages, I have a bit of a huge ignorance in areas of virtualization and would appreciate to be pointed in the right direction.
Here's the situation: me and my partner are huge geeks, and while we could certainly buy two 8gb RAM machines, and use one each, we had the idea of wasting a huge amount of time creating some sort of mechanism that would allow us to 16gb machine, and share it's resources.
This is what I thought:
The keyboard + mouse + monitor would be what you'd consider a "computer". The input from the keyboard and the mouse would be routed through the Server to the corresponding VM, and each of the VM's screen output would be displayed on the corresponding monitor(s), and all resources available on the Server would be available to both VMs.
My only question is which virtualization solution would best serve my purposes? How would you personally make such ideas come to life? What specific hardware do I need to buy and what do I need to watch for?
Ta!
Pedro
